Keynote presentations take the form of either a solo talk, an interview, or a conversation between two individuals, but all bring to the stage some of the industry's most important thinkers.

Dr. Robert Bullard

Robert D. Bullard is Dean of the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University. Prior to coming to TSU he was founding Director of the Environmental Justice Resource Center at Clark Atlanta University. He has been described as the father of environmental justice. He received his Ph.D. degree from Iowa State University.

He is the author of eighteen books that address sustainable development, environmental racism, urban land use, industrial facility siting, community reinvestment, housing, transportation, climate justice, emergency response, smart growth, and regional equity. Professor Bullard was featured in the July 2007 CNN People You Should Know, Bullard: Green Issue is Black and White. In 2008, Newsweek named him one of 13 Environmental Leaders of the Century. And that same year, Co-op America honored him with its Building Economic Alternatives Award (BEA). In 2010, The Grio named him one of the “100 Black History Makers in the Making” and Planet Harmony named him one of "Ten African American Green Heroes.” And in 2012, he was profiled in Everyday Heroes: 50 Americans Changing the World One Nonprofit at a Time (Welcome Books 2012).

Julie Felgar, managing director of Environmental Strategy and Integration at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, leads the team responsible for identifying ways to improve the environmental performance of Boeing products and services and the commercial aviation industry. Working with stakeholders around the world, Felgar is responsible for ensuring Commercial Airplanes has an integrated environmental strategy and a coordinated approach to environmental policy advocacy, biofuel commercialization and marketing. She also works closely with Boeing’s product development team to incorporate the company’s Design for Environment philosophy into future commercial products.

Dr. Alejandro Ríos G.

Dr. Alejandro Ríos G. Dr. Alejandro Ríos G. is Director of the Sustainable Bioenergy Research Consortium (SBRC) and Professor of Practice at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. The SBRC was established in 2009 by Masdar Institute with founding members Boeing, UOP-Honeywell and Etihad Airways and associate member Safran. SBRC is spearheading research in the use of salt-tolerant halophytes for the production of sustainable alternative fuels in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Ríos was the Director of ASA Fuel Services for 11 years, where he oversaw the operation and management of a network of over 60 fuel farms and their associated 2,000+ apron into-plane operations. He was the architect of the Plan de Vuelo (Flight Plan) initiative that is promoting the development of a sustainable aviation biofuel industry in Mexico.
