The general public is permitted to use hand-held cameras and/or smartphones to take photographs and capture digital images at SXSW Eco and within SXSW Eco event venues for personal, non-commercial use, provided the photography is not disruptive. Registrants may take photos from their seats, as long as they are not standing in the press area, obstructing views or using a flash after the session begins. Photographs may not be published, sold, reproduced, transmitted, distributed or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever.
Video recordings are not permitted for the general public at any time.
By attending SXSW Eco events, you consent to having your image captured by official SXSW Eco photographers and videographers. The resulting materials, including still photographs, video and audio recordings may be used by SXSW Eco, without restriction, in news materials, promotional materials, on the SXSW Eco web site and other properties.
During the SXSW Eco keynotes, panels and other sessions, photographers will be allowed to take photographs in the first five minutes, and then all cameras must be put away, or the photographer will be asked to leave the room.
Under no circumstances are tripods, lights and elaborate set ups permitted in any SXSW venue hallways.
If you are granted press credentials by the SXSW Eco Publicity Department, the following will be permitted with your credentials: news coverage of event activities, interviews, snippets of keynotes, panels and other sessions.
However, to protect the rights of speakers, as well as SXSW Eco, please note the following carefully: Your press credentials will NOT allow you to live webcast audio or video, broadcast or otherwise transmit, retransmit or copy in any form any conference programming for longer than :45 seconds.
By accepting SXSW Eco press credentials you are agreeing that your coverage will be limited to shooting no more than the first five minutes of any single session. You also agree to broadcast no more than 45 continuous seconds of any single session in your final product. No audio feeds will be allowed without prior consent from SXSW Eco.
