"An economy based on pollution makes a few billionaires...but our kids will pay all their lives for the joyride."

This morning, SXSW Eco 2016 launched its sixth annual conference with an Opening Keynote from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. - Our Environmental Destiny. Mr. Kennedy's keynote touched on the blue collar, grassroots origins of the organization he serves as president. Mr. Kennedy discusses how they've empowered stakeholders to use environmental laws, both old and new, to reclaim natural assets from industrial polluters. Citing historic laws going all the way back to the Justinian Code, Mr. Kennedy made a passionate argument for the utility or preserving our natural assets.

Named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his success helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has been intimately involved in defending the environment through legal action for many years. He has worked on environmental issues across the Americas and currently serves as Senior Attorney and President for Waterkeeper Alliance and Chief Prosecuting Attorney for Hudson Riverkeeper. He is also a Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney at Pace University School of Law’s Environmental Litigation Clinic and is co-host of Ring of Fire on Air America Radio.
