Day two's programming at SXSW Eco included Keynote William McDonough – Cradle to Cradle, The Circular Economy and The Carbon Positive City. As co-founder of the not-for-profit Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, and co-author of Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things, William McDonough is recognized as a leader in sustainable development He currently serves as a chair of the World Economic Forum’s Meta-Council on the Circular Economy and advises leaders worldwide.

During his keynote, William McDonough introduces the Carbon Positive City and explores the differences between “linear flow” in conventional urban development and “Circular Flow” in Cradle to Cradle® Urban Planning, in addition to how stakeholders can follow the Upcycle framework to reduce carbon in the atmosphere and optimize carbon as an asset.
