SXSW Eco is excited to announce that the SunShot Initiative will be hosting three 1-hour sessions on community solar from 11 am-2 pm on Tuesday. These “pitch-a-thon” sessions will focus on SunShot’s soon-to-be-released “Solar In Your Community” prize challenge—starting with the basics of community solar and ending with an interactive practice pitch contest. There will be keynote speakers from the solar industry as well.

Attendees will learn the ins and outs of community solar from industry leaders and hear how they can become solar champions in their communities. These sessions are designed for anyone interested in learning more about community solar, leading a new community solar project or program, or serving as a technical assistance provider during the challenge.

The goal of the challenge is to enable the expansion of the solar market to a diverse array of new consumers, including low- and moderate-income customers as well as nonprofit community-serving organizations. Participating teams will be awarded tens of thousands of dollars in cash prizes and technical assistance to develop innovative community solar programs and projects. Come learn more about how to participate in this nation-wide expansion of solar power!
