Today marks the 44th annual Earth Day, when individuals and organizations are called upon to reassess their environmental impact and leave a smaller footprint moving forward. We all know environmental awareness is a 24/7 and 365 days a year initiative, but April 22 is particularly special when green events are held across the world to show support for environmental protection. SXSW Eco strives to be a platform that broadens the environmental conversation to include a wide array of voices, perspectives and backgrounds. This Earth Day join us in our mission, submit a session for SXSW Eco 2014. Deadline for submissions is this Friday, April 25. Check out some events surrounding Earth Day happening this week:

  • Watch the live debate on climate leadership and youth with The Elders today, April 22, live-streamed to a global audience on The Elders website. Jimmy Carter, Hina Jilani and Mary Robinson will be speaking at Sciences Po, Paris.

  • Earth Day Texas is coming up this weekend and SXSW Eco will be joining in on this annual festival held to promote environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. Celebrate the planet at this two-day festival during April 26-27 from 10am - 6pm at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. This is a family-friendly event and admission is free. We are excited to be a part of this group of environmental initiatives and hope to see you at our exhibitor booth (#6604) on Saturday, April 26!
