The night begins with the inaugural SXSW Eco Awards from 5:30-7:00PM in Ballroom C! The SXSW Eco Awards recognizes the winners of conference competitions during an evening of drinks and entertainment. Winners of the SXSW Eco Hackathon, Place by Design, and Startup Showcase will be announced throughout the ceremony. Come cheer on the participants and winners!
Following the ceremony, there are a variety of special events that will allow you to get to know other attendees and experience what our fair city has to offer. If you signed up for one of our 8 Round Table Dinners grab your fellow diners and head to one of Austin stellar local restaurants. Or join us for drinks and appetizers at the Edible Walls Party presented by Qatar Foundation International. This interactive dining experience will bring attendees into the culinary process by allowing them to pick fresh ingredients off of living wall gardens in order to enhance their meal. The party will take place at The Blackheart Bar at 86 Rainey Street from 7:30pm-9:00pm.
After you grab a bite to eat head to the historic Alamo Ritz Theatre for a special screening of American Meat, a thought-provoking documentary that captures a rarely-seen perspective on the current state of the U.S. meat industry. As part of their commitment to food with integrity, Chipotle is presenting this film to show support for farms which produce quality ingredients with respect to the animals, the environment and the farmer. There will be a Q&A session immediately following the screening. A ticket is required to attend. Seating will open at 7:15 PM.
We hope you enjoy your second evening out in Austin. Tomorrow morning the Sierra Club will be taking a group of registrants on an early morning hike through Bright Leaf Preserve to explore Texas’ sprawling lands. Advance sign up is recommended. Pickup for the event will be outside the ACC near the northwest corner, on Trinity St. between 3rd & 4th.
Have a great evening everyone!
