This year's SXSW Eco is bigger and better than ever with over 300 speakers, 100 sessions and countless opportunities for networking at special events. While we have a ton of excellent panels to attend this year, there are also a slew of daytime and evening special events that will take you outside of the typical conference environment.
On Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8 stop by the Eco Exhibition to connect with over 50 companies, from startups to large firms, leading the charge in sustainable innovation. The exhibition also holds Meet Ups, the Maker Space presented by Autodesk, the Lagunitas Lounge, the Startup Ping Pong Tournament presented by Heliovolt and the Hacker Lounge presented by Cleanweb.
Discover Austin and network with other attendees through one of our great field trips. Hike with the Sierra Club in Bright Leaf Preserve, beautify Waller Creek and the historic Rainey Street District with AMD and Keep Austin Beautiful, and discover public art and placemaking initiatives in downtown Austin. RSVP to join the AMD “Green Army” Volunteer-Networking Event today!
Parties, parties parties! Celebrate a little each night with your fellow attendees. This year we are having our traditional Welcome Reception Presented by evox tv & E. ON Climate and Renewables and Closing Party presented by Nat Geo WILD as well as a Sunday night pre-party and a special Tuesday night event: Edible Walls presented by the Qatar Foundation International.
Sign ups are now open for Mentor Sessions, Startup Central Breakout sessions and SXSW Eco workshops. These in-depth events contribute to career advancement by allowing greater access to experts than the traditional one-hour panel session. RSVP in advance to claim your spot!
Monday and Tuesday night you can also attend our two exciting film screenings: Pandora's Promise and American Meat presented by Chipotle. Pandora's Promise controversially examines the potential for nuclear energy to power the globe and American Meat outlines a new, more responsible future for our nation's meat industry. Chipotle will also screen their short film (and viral sensation) 'The Scarecrow.' Both screenings will have an accompanying daytime panel session to explore the provocative topics of the films in more detail.
Get to know Austin's flourishing food scene through the SXSW Eco Welcome Dinner on Monday night at historic Barr Mansion and the Tuesday night Round Table Dinners, which are small group meals at local restaurants centered around our 8 program themes: Behavior, Business, Climate Change, Design, Energy, Food & Ag, Land & Water and Policy & Activism.
